CPSW CODE OF ETHICS

· The members of the National Association of Certified Personal Support Workers recognize. The precepts of Personal Integrity and Professional Conduct and Fundamental Ethics, and as such:

· Shall establish and maintain the highest moral principles with Compassion, Commitment, Co-operation, Competency and Caring, very paramount to the delivery of service.

· Shall be committed to the benefit of the individual client in care, with respect, love, and compassion, and a goal towards maximizing good.

· Shall value health and well-being, and will assist persons to achieve their optimum level of living in situations of normal health, illness, injury, or in the process of dying.

· Shall respect and advocate the dignity and self-respect of human beings.

· Shall apply and promote principles of equity and fairness to assist clients.

· Shall act in a manner consistent with their professional responsibilities and the National Standards of Care Practices.

· Shall practice methods conducive to safe, competent, and ethical care, and shall safeguard the trust of clients, in that information learned in the context of a professional relationship is shared outside the health care team, only with the client's permission, or as legally required.
