Standards of Care + Continuous Quality Improvement = NACPSW

The improvement in health care quality depends on excellence in training, education, continuing education, professional standards and principled practice behavior. It will also depend on our developing front line health care providers with on the job training and creating a culture of best practices in the work place. In a market-oriented health care system, we need information to inform choice at three levels—choice of plan, choice of provider, and choice of service. Consumers and clients that are provided with choices for service will select quality service for the best price. CPSWs are filling that role.

Institutions competing for PSWs and our consumer dollars can market a high level of standard of care by membership in a Continuous Quality Improvement Association -NACPSW.

Agencies providing PSWs for Community Care Access Centres will benefit from the promotion of standards of excellence in the CPSW.

The consumers of today are making choices for a knowledgeable front line health care worker that can deliver personal support services.
